It was a somber Sunday in Happy Valley with the passing of legendary head coach Joe Paterno but Penn State fans did receive some uplifting news when word surfaced that Camas (Wash.) wide receiver Jonathan Warner and Baltimore (Md.) teammates Trevor Williams and Da'Quan Davis all committed to the Nittany Lions.

"I just talked to Coach (Bill) O'Brien over the phone, he was getting ready for his game against the Ravens, I sat down with my family and the rest of the coaching staff and we talked to him over the speaker phone," Davis told Lions247. "We basically just got it done. He said he was happy to have me."

Davis, a defensive back, and Williams, a wide receiver, are both former West Virginia pledges who recently re-opened their recruitment and just picked up offers from the new staff. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Warner, who is the son of famed Penn State running back Curt Warner, didn't hold any other offers but the wide out had also recently picked up one from the Nittany Lions and wasted no time in committing after a visit to the program his family name has been associated with for a long time.

"I just officially committed!" an excited Warner told the site.

The trio gives Penn State 17 commitments for the class of 2012 with just over a week left until Signing Day. Davis is one of the top corners in the Northeast and provides a nice boost to O'Brien's recruiting efforts.

"He shows good quickness and overall athletic ability to go with good technique and big-time instincts," analyst Tom Lemming said of Davis. "Physical in coverage, he's exceptional in man to man defense, he can accelerate quickly to full speed, and has a smooth backpedal. Known for his ability to lock down the opposing team's top receiver, he put together an outstanding junior campaign."

Good for PSU. I think CBS has Phillipstitans level wrong at 84. It should ne more like 8.4 if even that. And to think that he thought he knew who Curt Warner was. I'll bet Kurt Warner doesn't agree with this "brainchild" either. Frown

Fballgenius, it's "chaos".  Why wouldn't the junior Warner want to fllow in his dad's footsteps?

Fballgenius:  You are legend in your own mind!  Who are you to judge morals, values and character?  Really!  You don't know these kids nor their parents.  Again, you will just slam anyone and/or anything to do with Penn State!  You are far from a genius!  You are jumping on the proverbial bandwagon of hate!  You can hate Sandusky!  You should and most do!  You can dislike McQuery!  He has lots of explaining to do!  You can question Joe's decision making and lack of follow-up on such a horrible incident.  However, don't you dare throw everyone who has absolutely nothing to do with this despicable crime under the bus!

Now, go in your closet of sin and do a very close self examanation!  Bet you won't like everything you see will you??  Now, imagine millions reading about it every second of the day.  What would you do?  Not so easy is it!

Good people make horrible mistakes!  Some deserve forgiveness and some probably do not!  But everyone deserves their fair due!

The average fan has become a lot smarter with this propaganda crap.  In the midst of a man's death, we equal that to some unknown HIGHSCHOOL kids going to play football at PSU?  Truth be told, any kid going there during this time has misplaced values and priorities.  Education is important and you certainly would not want your child to attend a school that is going to be getting all type of negative press over the coming years.  The Sandusky issue hasn't even begun yet.  I hope someone has a suicide watch on Sandusky  because he is certainly going to take some blame as a result of all this farcus he has caused.  PSU is in a state of toal caois and you would really want your child to attend there?  Not in the next 20 years!

Wow...3 highshool kids that most people have never heard of committed to PennState to play football. That IS pretty uplifting, just.  great, i'm so excited. It sure takes the sting out of losing Joe Pa......really? Really Bryan? You really couldn't have chosen another lead in to this story or maybe you just could have sat on it for a couple days. Hey, do you think the powers to be are going to let one of these three speak at the funeral?
