While a good number of schools around the country are looking for their first commitment in the class of 2012, Florida State added their first for the class of 2013 Sunday night in Pratville (Ala.) offensive linemen Austin Gholson.

“I was at FSU on Thursday," Gholson told "When I got home I talked it over with my parents and we decided it was time to do it.”

While it is somewhat unusual for sophomores to verbally commit to schools, Gholson is one of the top players in the state of Alabama and was receiving interest from several schools very early in the process. Despite the fact that he won't enroll for over two years, the 6-foot-6, 275 pound Gholson decided to go ahead and commit.

“I called (offensive line coach Rick) Trickett first, he didn’t answer so I called (recruiting coordinator Dameyune) Craig,” Gholson said. “Then they put Jimbo Fisher on the phone. He congratulated me and said he was glad to have me commit.”

The Seminoles have seven commitments for the class of 2012, none of which is an offensive lineman.
