Oregon normally gets off to a fast start on the field and they're hoping that picking up their first commitment in the class of 2012 allows them to do the same in the recruiting game. After hosting several recruits during a Junior Day on Saturday afternoon, the Ducks received a pledge from Newport (Ore.) athlete Oshay Dunmore.
"Talking with my mom and everybody we just talked it over and there just isn't any better situation for me with track and football," Dunmore told DuckSportsAuthority.com. "With the early commitment there is still a chance I can take my visits. If the visits don't happen that's fine."
The 6-foot-2, 200 pound Dunmore is expected to play safety for the Ducks. Ending the recruiting process early allows the talented athlete to focus on his upcoming senior season.
"I'm excited," Dunmore added. "With the commitment I just need to stay focused the rest of my junior and senior seasons."
Dunmore played quarterback and safety last season, rushing for over 2,100 yards and 29 total touchdowns. He also grabbed two interceptions patrolling the secondary.
