Florida picked up a big (literally) commitment Monday evening from offensive tackle Jessamen Dunker, less than a week after he wrapped up an unofficial visit to the school.

“It wasn’t hard of a choice after I really thought about it,” Dunker told the Palm Beach Post. “It’s a comfort level with the coaches, the atmosphere there and the support the sports teams get, the experience that the coaching staff has.”

The 6-foot-6, 315 pound Dunker became one of the most sought after players on the East Coast after a strong junior season. Holding a double-digit number of scholarship offers from the likes of Alabama, Georgia, Auburn and LSU among others, Dunker ended up staying close to home based on his relationship with everyone at Florida.

“It wasn’t hard of a choice after I really thought about it,” Dunker said. “It’s a comfort level with the coaches, the atmosphere there and the support the sports teams get, the experience that the coaching staff has.”

Unlike some players who enjoy the recruiting process and the attention that comes with it, Dunker wanted to commit early in order to focus on more important things his senior year.

“I figured I shouldn’t keep people waiting,” he said. “My commitment allows me to focus on my schoolwork.”

The Boynton Beach (Fla) tackle will still take official visits to several schools in the fall. The Gators are in need of lineman and Dunker gives them their first in the class of 2012 and is the sixth overall commitment for the school.

Florida picks up mammoth offensive tackle

I didnt even know Greg had a brother, I live in Tualatin, OR so I see the Trailblazers all the time around town (Their practice facility is in Tualatin.) I talked to Greg a few weeks ago when he was behind me in line at the local movie theater. I'll have to ask him about his brother next time I see him. My Grandparents and Dad live just outside of Glenwood City,AR. So I try to keep up on Hog news.

The dude isn't even that huge, Arkansas has a redshirt freshman that's 6'10, 350 and runs a 5.0 forty. His name is Anthony Oden, he's the younger brother of Greg Oden.

greatbeat, you are probably correct. I am sure the pressure is on with so many sports writers out there.

It reminds me of something Karl Pilkington said "If you just keep talking sooner or later you will say something intelligent."

Although it would be nice if they took a minute to have someone else give the article a once-over, to check for any glaring errors.

I watched a movie a few weeks ago called fast food nation, This executive from a Mcdonalds type company was investigating claims that fecal matter was getting into the hamburger. It turns out this happened alot, because the factory that processed the cows was running their butcher conveyors too fast and the poop would sometimes spill out all over the meat. But they would just keep running to keep up with the quota.

Anyways, Im making a bigger deal out of this than it is.

Ive noticed a trend in online articles from major news outlets. Misspelling, Grammar Errors and Just a general lack of pride in what these so called reporters do. I am far from an expert on the subject but I am not being paid to write.
In their defense, with new technologies writers are expected to churn out a greater volume of material in a shorter period of time.  Mistakes are bound to happen.   My biggest problem with Dodd, Doyle, et al, is that their content is just so asinine.

CBS Sports does not proof read their articles

It seems like we are being dumbed down with the advent of blogging and texting. The abbreviations and acronyms are getting out of hand. LOL!!

It reminds me of a movie I saw about a soldier who is frozen and wakes up 50 years or so later and everyone is stupid.

Or maybe this is the way of the future and I am just too old to understand it.

In response to the article, I hope that the Ducks pull another recruiting coup next year and get this MAMMOTH to sign a LOI with OR. That would be hilarious, ROFL LOL STFU SWM UYS ALDS NCAA NBA MLB NFL MLS UofO LOTR TNG SEMA Y2K MS HIV USA MADD ADHD PUYP!!!!

Post Script, PUYP stands for: Pull Up Your Pants

Until he sees the attention his friends and other kids are getting and de-commits sometime next season.  Every kid that commits this early says this.  Not all of them stay committed.  Not saying its gonna happen, but a verbal commitment is worthless.  It would be nice if more student atheletes actually believed what he said.

And he doesn't want to keep people waiting?? And he didn't sit in front of a camera and pull a Florida hat out of a box?? I love this kid! He was raised the right way and has a good head on his shoulers. People are going to remember this guy when he leaves the Gator program.

Wow, he actually mentioned a focus on his schoolwork when discussing why he chose Florida. This kid sounds like he wants to take advantage of the academic and athletic opportunites available to him at the college level. That's outstanding.
