They say relationships are everything in recruiting. Given the amount of time Texas A&M head coach Mike Sherman has spent with the Matthews family, he might actually be considered part of the family as a result.

The youngest of the Matthews clan (on Hall of Fame offensive lineman Bruce Matthews’ side), Missouri City (Texas) offensive lineman Mike, became commitment number 14 for the Aggies’ class of 2012 Wednesday night according to

The 6-foot-3, 260 pound Matthews will be the third Matthews brother to head to College Station, joining older brothers Kevin (now with the Tennessee Titans) and Jake (the Aggies starting right tackle).

The commitment is the Aggies’ fourth offensive lineman in the class of 2012. Earlier in the day, A&M picked up defensive end Alonzo Williams as commitment number 13. A 6-foot-4, 250 pound end form Abbeville (La.), Williams was being pursued by LSU, Tennessee and Georgia among others.

Surprisingly, Texas A&M has double the number of commitments as in-state rival Texas (14 to 7) at this point early in the 2012 recruiting cycle.
