One is nice, two is twice as nice. That's precisely what head coach Will Muschamp is thinking after grabbing commitments from a pair of players during Florida's Junior Day Saturday.

Stone Mountain (Ga.) running back Mike Davis and Largo-Pinellas Park (Fla.) linebacker Jeremi Powell both committed to Florida, Davis doing so on his 18th birthday. The pair give the Gators five commitments for the class of 2012.

“I just felt at home here,” Davis told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I talked to all the coaches and they told me everything I needed to know about the school and their system. So I wanted to go ahead and make my mind up and get on with it.”

Davis is the second running back to head to Florida, almost a week after the commitment of Seffner-Armwood (Fla.) back Matt Jones. The 5-foot-11, 185 pound Davis complements the much bigger Jones in the backfield as more of a speed back. He is also the younger brother of Washington Redskins running back James Davis.

The 6-foot-2, 200 pound Powell recorded 15 sacks his junior year and had interest from Iowa State, Purdue, South Carolina and USF among others.

“It's the best vibe from a visit I've ever had,” Powell told Swamp247.com. “The coaches were off the charts. It was better than I could have thought.”

The commitment of Davis likely means Florida is done recruiting at the running back position. Florida is expected to add at least two more linebackers this class.

Brantley is a senior.  The 2 RBs won't be there until 2012.

Florida needs to add more than that if they plan to keep playing Brantley.

Blackholeninja....Brantley is 2011 Senior QB.  The 2 'junior' RBs are for 2012.

Go away!

Go Gators!

Brantley will do fine this year. Anyone that says they are a gator fan, and then states Brantley's poor play as the reason they were unsuccessful last year is not a fan.  Brantley is a pocket passer who was playing in a spread offense.  They pulled him when they wanted to run the ball and played him on every 3rd and long.  It didn't take a defensive genius to figure out our offense last year.  We were predictable on almost every play, it was just the talent of our players that won most of our games, when we should have lost.  With Weiss and his pro-style offense coming to Gainesville, Brantley will be back in an offense he was made to lead, and the Gators will take care of business in 2011.

Florida needs to add more than that if they plan to keep playing Brantley. Everyone hails him as this dynamic passer but its gotten the gators nowhere since he took the lead role. I may be a gator fan but they certainly need to figure out what to do at this quarterback position. I dont think Brantley has the skillset to get the job done as opposed to his backups like Trey Burton. But with a new coaching staff coming in with new ideas and formations, we will see i guess.

Ok, John Brantley looked bad because of the incompetent Steve Addazio.  When teams can predict run and pass on every offensive play, that presents a problem.  Addazio's offense became so predictable, teams would blatantly load the box with 8 when Burton and Reed were in, and drop 8 when Brantley was in.  Even Tebow's numbers went way down when Addazio took over, and the only reason Tebow did ok was his ability to run and bail out the horrible play calling.  Brantley is not a runner, and the offensive line last year couldn't hardly block a 4 man rush; thus Brantley had very little time to throw.  Dude, if Weis can make Matt Cassel into a pro bowl QB, he will work wonders with Brantley.

Don't underestimate the significance that Charlie Weis' offense will have on Brantley.

"Florida is expected to add at least two more linebackers this class."

Well how hard could it be to add two more linebackers? I expect that Florida will also add at least two more defensive ends this class...
