With the days flying off the calendar as Signing Day approaches, some players’ view of the recruiting process is getting clearer and clearer. For Lake City (FL) defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan, that doesn’t appear to be the case.
According to the Gainesville Sun, Jernigan visited Florida State officially this past weekend. He has been scheduled to visit Florida – officially or unofficially – sometime before Signing Day but rumors have persisted that he has canceled the visit.
“He told them that he was unofficially going to come down there, so I’m pretty sure he’s going to do that,” Jernigan’s coach, Craig Howard told the Sun. “I don’t know why that would be off, because he said he would do that. Hopefully he will fulfill his word.”
Howard says that Jernigan’s parents are causing a bit of a rift in the recruiting process, with his mother preferring Florida State while his father likies Florida. Tennessee and LSU are also in the mix. Jernigan is MaxPreps’ 41st player overall and third-ranked defensive tackle in the country.
Either way, stay tuned because it seems as though Jernigan can go a number of different ways on Signing Day.
